"Tips" Towards Training
BODY, SOUL, AND SPIRIT SALON PRESENTS "Tips" Toward Training!
Salon Know-How Education & Training Institute is partnering with San Francisco, California Mayor's Youth Employment and Education Program (MYEEP). Our education and training institute hosts teen internships, offering hands-on training in natural hair care, braiding, dread-locking, hair-locing, hair weaving, extension techniques, professional beauty industry policies & procedures, salon, and spa management skills. Salon Know-How has a desire to inspire and foster our young adults towards entrepreneurship.
Body, Soul, and Spirit Salon provided an educational space for creative youth and young adults right here in our local community for over 20 years for FREE. Our next endeavor is to increase the number of young people we train who are interested in the professional beauty industry. We started an education and training institute at our salon. Our mission is to offer free training to those young individuals in our community who otherwise would not be able to afford or attend a traditional beauty school financially.
At Salon Know-How Education & Training Institute, the thought of turning away young people who have the talent and the desire, because we are not able to adequately accommodate them is too much even to think! Because of the increasing demand in the local area, Salon Know-How is partnering with Body, Soul, and Spirit Salon by committing to professionally training as many youth as possible who are interested in our program. For the record, I graduated from cosmetology school way back in 1996, where I attended for FREE! Yup, you read correctly, folks. Over the years, this has been my attempt to "pay-it-forward".
The Story: Body, Soul, and Spirit Salon stopped accepting tips from our clientele in January 2019 to strategically set our establishment apart as a trendsetter in the professional beauty industry. We received somewhat of a slight pushback from a majority of our clients who "did not feel comfortable" not tipping. After a year of experimentation, we realized we could utilize the tips our clients wanted to so desperately give us, with the need we had for funding the free education and training institute for our youth. And Voila! "Tips" Towards Training, was born!
To fulfill Salon Know-How's educational mission, we need more salon supplies, more staff, and more space. To obtain what we need to serve the community of our youth fully, we need your help. Please consider making a "tip" towards our training (donation). It costs our institute approximately $12,000 annually to train a teen. We would be more than happy to also accept sponsorships! All monies raised will help to continue our endeavors. We will be able to serve more youth each year, which will have a residual positive impact on the community.
